This week\u2019s article reinforces the importance of social connection. If you are not able to safely meet with friends and family inside, perhaps consider an outdoor activity together.<\/p>\n<p>Research shows that healthier aging is possible when you:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Are socially active<\/li>\n<li>Take care of your mental health<\/li>\n<li>Continue to learn new things<\/li>\n<li>Are physically active<\/li>\n<li>Change the way you think about aging<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Call a friend \u2013 it\u2019s good for you!<\/h2>\n<p>Your mother may have told you an apple a day would keep the doctor away. Did you know that enjoying a card game or a chat over a cup of tea can have the same effect? Social activity is an important part of your overall health and well-being.<\/p>\n<p>Being social improves your brain performance, including your memory. That lowers your risk of developing dementia.<\/p>\n<p>Spending time with people improves your mood and actually lowers your risk of depression.<\/p>\n<p>So take the time to connect with your community! And you know what? You\u2019re not done yet! You\u2019re never too old to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tell your story<\/li>\n<li>Join Facebook<\/li>\n<li>Dance<\/li>\n<li>Learn<\/li>\n<li>Plan for the future<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Having a positive attitude is a key part of healthy living. Your thinking patterns play a big role in how you manage changes throughout your life.
